Comcast Town

While watching 24 tonight I happened upon a new Comcast commercial. The commercial appears to be animated and the characters are singing a song about all you can do with Comcast and how great it is. At the end there is a link to a website: http://comcasttown.com/. I thought the commercial was pretty cool, my wife thought it was kind of creepy.

So of course after 24 was over I popped onto the website to learn that Comcast has created their own little virtual world. Once you register you are given a room to furnish with products to use Comcast services. Kind of like Sims but you earn money by watching Comcast shows or inviting friends. The seem to be teamed up with facebook so you can somehow link your room to your Facebook account.

I am not really into this type of thing but the commercial did suck me in and get me to visit the website so I am sure some people will be into it. I am trying to figure out how Comcast is going to make any money on this but I guess it is just another form of advertising for them. It doesn't seem to be fully functional yet, all you can really do is buy stuff for your room and look at other rooms so I got bored pretty quick. When I was registering there was something about being able to play games so that may make it a bit more interesting but there doesn't seem to be much to do there now.

I just saw this commercial. I can't remember when a commercial made me look away from my laptop for the entire commercial. It's and catchy. So much so that I googled it and your blog.

Marketing geniuses if you ask me. I must of rewinded the DVR three times to listen to the music because I could have sworn the music came from the final song in Juno. My girlfriend disagreed (big suprise there). However, I have come to learn she typically is right on things.

Does anyone know where the basis of that catchy Comcast Town song came from?

I agree with the previous two posts - excellent commercial. I can't believe I'm actually looking online for more information about a commercial.

Does anybody have links to the new commercial and/or song? I couldn't find anything on YouTube.

The song was based on the song from Juno. I personally love the commercial.

Which song is this? (some saying it's from Juno?)

The song in the Comcast commercial reminds me of:
1970s - Reunion - "Life is a Rock"
1980s - the Nails - "88 Lines About 44 Women"
1990s - U2 - "Numb"
this century / millenium - the freecreditreport ads and the Juno soundtrack
